I’m a proponent of sustainability. Financially,
this means matching the rate of tax increase to the rate of inflation. I want
us to achieve this by Budget 2018. Concurrently, I want to increase the City’s
other revenue streams to maintain the programs that we enjoy. One Ward 1 resident suggested having ad spaces in bus shelters. Some of my ideas include increasing rec centre user fees for non-residents, renting out roof space
on city buildings to solar energy providers, and renting out commercial space in municipal buildings (wouldn't it be nice to have a café in the VRRC!) I'm interested in thinking outside the box. If you have an idea for generating revenue for the City, I want to hear about it- drop me a line.
